Realcoin tether

Tether—which was originally called "Realcoin"—was issued for the first time back in October 2014 on the Omni layer of the Bitcoin blockchain. Fast forward to 2020, and it is now the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. It is only trailing Bitcoin and Ethereum after surpassing XRP earlier this year.

In practice, Tether trading began only in February 2015. In November 2017 after the merger (FORK) the system was hacked and $ 31 million was stolen. Today, Tether supports four stablecoins: the U.S. dollar (USDT), the Chinese Yuan (CNHT) and the Euro (EURT), as well as a stablecoin backed by 1 oz. of gold (XAUT). First launching with USDT in 2014, the company’s idea was to make government monies more compatible with newer crypto assets, which traded 24/7 on an active global market. For example, some of the first stablecoins out there was introduced to the community back in 2014, including Tether which was first released in July 2014 under the name ‘RealCoin'.
